The Open Road

We like cars!

From childhood, both our lives were filled with car shows and races. From vintage cars to sports cars and everything in-between. Car people are a diverse crowd.

Lisa remembers summer nights riding through the Ozarks countryside with her father in his TR3 convertible. Cresting a hill and feeling the summer heat, then racing down into a valley of cool fog. My father's influence has lived on in my continued passion for car shows. I even had the honor of being the goodwill ambassador for the Dickerson Park Zoo, the year they hosted lunch for the drivers of The Great American Race as it wound its way through Springfield . I was in heaven. Some of the photos shown here are from the "Art of The Car" concours d'elegance that were held each year to support the Kansas City Art Institute. As I walked through the crowd and talked with the owners, I could feel my father beside me.

As for Mark it was all racing. His dad fielded cars at Springfield's Fairgrounds Speedway, Devil's Bowl and Bolivar Speedway as well as being a flagman and handling wrecker duties for the tracks. Mark spent many weekends tagging along with his father. This inspired him to build cars and in turn photograph cars. His talent with a camera gave him the opportunity to photograph multiple vintage car shows throughout the summer months shooting everything from classics, street rods, rat rods and street machines for Family Events which hosts the Street Machine Nationals across the Midwest.  As well as the SMN, traveling regionally to shoot other shows throughout the years.
